Students use technology as a tool for learning in all subjects. A schoolwide computer network allows students in each classroom access to teacher presentations, schoolwide presentations and research on the Internet. The Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) program offers challenging opportunities for all students and independent research projects for highly motivated students. Challenge-level classes prepare students for course work in a high school International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, College in the Schools or Advanced Placement (AP), which are all rigorous pre-university programs. Special education students at Washington are included in regular classes and receive direct services in classes designed to foster their academic development. Washington offers a rigorous, content-based program tailored to address the needs of English Language Learners. Students have the opportunity to prepare for a successful middle school experience through Project Good Start in the summer prior to their enrollment.

If you like technology, you’ll love Washington! We have over 300 computers that are used every day. Our music technology is among the top in the state. Students in media arts learn about digital photography, digital video, and web page development. Students use wireless laptop computers to do research and prepare class presentations.

Our Reading and Math scores show among the highest improvement in the state of Minnesota. Students have access to excellent reading teachers and technology designed to help them at their particular level. Students in math classes have the opportunity to excel through advanced algebra with the use of creative instruction and access to technology.

The learning doesn't stop at 2:40 in the afternoon at Washington. Several hundred students per year are involved in our after-school programs including academic offerings, enrichment opportunities, extra help for class work, and athletics. Washington students have a history of excellence in National History Day, math team championships, athletic championships, and connections to the community.

Washington provides students with the advanced learning opportunities they need for life in the 21st century. Technology enhances learning in every subject.
