How Should I Pay for College?

Be sure to visit the website for the college(s) you plan on applying to and examine the financial aid resources they offer.  Some of the best information you can get will come from there.

In addition to Family Connection, which you are encouraged to use as a primary source of information, the following resources may be useful for you as you develop a plan to pay for college:

Expenses (tuitiion, room & board, books, etc)

    • Use the search bar in the PDF to find the Minnesota college you are looking for.  All Minnesota 2- and 4-year colleges are listed in alphabetical order.

Grants (money given based on financial need and doesn't need to be paid back):

    • See pg 12 for average federal and state need-based grants by income and institution type
  • Financial Aid Estimator
    • The financial aid estimator will help you estimate your eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant, Minnesota State Grant, and federal education tax benefits.
    • Must have some knowledge of family's financial situation
