Hello!  My name is Chang Dao Vang.  I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand called Ban Vinai.  I immigrated to the United States in 1991 and have lived in Saint Paul ever since.
 
I went to Washington for middle school, Arlington High School (which is the building Washington is in now), and then went on to finish high school at Central. I graduated from St. Olaf College in 2011 with a Bachelors in Social Work. 

In college, I worked with the TRiO Student Support Services and found my passion of helping students from low-income, first-generation, disabled, and under represented students get to college and succeed.  I have also worked with the Upward Bound high school students and enjoyed assisting them on their journey to college.  My first job out of college was at Hmong American Partnership as a YouthLEAD Coordinator.  There, I worked with older youth (18-22 years old) with their skills to obtain employment and worked with younger youth(13-17 years old) to educate them on their college application process.

This is only my first year with Get Ready!, but I have enjoyed serving the diverse and energetic student population here at Washington.  I hope to continue working here and cannot wait to see the 1st class of Washington High School students graduate and go onto college.  I hope to make Washington known the school that sends their students to colleges.  My room number is 4321 and come by anytime.
