His role is to support all special education students who have social work minutes as part of their Individual Education Plans (IEP's). He works with students, teachers, counselors and administration to support student achievement. He provides one to one counseling and/or group counseling, social skills training, crisis intervention and conflict resolution to special education students. He can also be a resource to provide parents, youth and families with links to community based agencies and services that can support families in need. Prior to joining the staff at Washington, Mr. Snyder was an intern at Ramsey County Human Services in the Child Welfare/Child Protection Division and at Ramsey Junior High in St. Paul. He recently completed his master's degree in Social Work from the Universtity of Minnesota. He has also spent time working in the field of domestic violence. He was formerly a teacher and worked to develop an alternative school program for chemically dependent youth in another school district.
