I was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN. I grew up in The West End of Saint Paul by the Schmidt Brewery and Saint Paul District offices. I attended Davis Elementary for Kindergarten, Saint James for grade school, and Cretin High School graduating in 1985. I have a huge Catholic family, eight sisters and two brothers of which I am eighth born.
I attended Inver Hills Community College, Metro State University, Augsburg University, The University of Saint Catherine (Bachelors of Interpreting in American Sign Language, BI 2004), and The University of Saint Thomas (Master of Arts, Autism and Developmental Disabilities, MADD 2008) all Minnesota institutions of higher learning.
I have been employed by Saint Paul Public Schools for over 27 years. My first 20 years were at Bridge View School where I started as an aide and later became a teacher. The next seven years have been at Washington Technology. I have taught Autism workshops to school, and district staff. I also taught CPR and First aide for 20 year, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention classes (NVCI).
I teach all subject in a small classroom setting. My students are taught a variety of life-skills classes. We work on Social Skills and best practices all day, everyday. I teach, but I also learn from my students. The teaching and learning environment is one that is safe and fun where everyone is encouraged to speak their mind and share openly and freely.
I love my students, my staff, and my job. I couldn't possibly have a better career. I have yet to have a boring day working in education. I look forward to helping my students to attain their greatest potential.
