Mr. O'Donnell - Teacher of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders
Welcome to Mr. O'Donnell's Web page! I hope that this proves to be a helpful resource for students, parents and staff.

ABOUT ME

I came into the field of teaching after working in a group home for troubled adolescents. I thrived on the challenges the youngsters offered me, but wished to help students of that age in a more academic, structured way. Since I did not have my Education degree (instead, a B.A. in English from St. John's University) I returned to school at Hamline University and gained my teaching license.

I have been teaching at Washington since the the 2008-2009 school year. In this time, I have case managed and advocated for students under the disability areas of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and Other Health Disabilities. I have taught grades 7-10 in the subject areas of Reading, English, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry and Study Skills. I enjoy the daily challenges with which the school day presents me, and like any other well rounded human being, keep busy with hobbies on the side--playing semi-pro rugby and writing and recording music with my band.

This 2011-2012 school year, I am case managing students in grades 8, 9, and 10. Washington's inclusion based model ensures that I am co-teaching students in the least restrictive environment possible in English and Math. Students on my caseload also benefit from a Study Skills resource class to reinforce behavioral strategies and work completion in mainstream classes.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, whether it is in person, via email, or phone. I am looking forward to another great year at Washington!
