Designing a City of the Future The Washington Future Cities Team recently competed at the regional tournament at the University of Thomas. Their work for this National Engineers Week Future City Competition was to: 1. Design and manage a virtual city, 2. Research a topic relevant to our country's future cities ~ the team chose nanotechnology, 3. Make a model of their city, and 4. Present their work to a panel of judges. The team recieved high marks for the quality of research, model, and presentaion from the judges. All team members are very proud of their great work and are looking forward to next year. Pictured are team's mentor Matt Gjersvik, and team members Zak Isse and Matthew Yang. Not pictured are team members Cody Chapman, Mitchell Feske and Hnede Joshua. The team would like to extend a special thank you to their mention Matt Gjersvik PE, PTOE the ITS Project Manager and Research Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Mr. Gjersvik spent many hours working with the team. Through his tutelage they learned many issues impacting our cities.
