Pre-Algebra
 Course Syllabus
Welcome to Pre-Algebra Math Class. I hope you are eager to learn how to think, write, and talk like a mathematician. This year, we will be exploring topics such as data and statistics, decimals, equations, exponents, fractions, integers, patterns, percents, probability, proportions, and ratios. Please be aware of the following;
Daily Required Materials:
•  Lined Paper (3-hole punched)        
•  Student Planner    
•  Math Textbook                               
•  Binder/Blue Math Folder                
•  No. 2 Pencil    (or black/blue pen)
•  Homework (completed)
•  Questions                                       
•  AR Book        
•  At home you may want to have on hand colored pencils, ruler, calculator, paper, and pencil.
Homework:
•    Always include your name, period and name of assignment (e.g. “page 46”)
•    Pick up corrected homework regularly
•    Read comments
•    Ask questions about anything that is not clear
•    Check to see that it is recorded correctly
Classroom Expectations - The Washington Way
•    Be a Learner (Allow your teacher to teach and your classmates to learn)  
•    Be Responsible (Come prepared and follow instructions)
•    Be Respectful (of others, yourself, the school, materials, etc.)
Tardy Policy:
You are to be seated in your desk and ready with your materials before or by the beginning of each period (this includes after the lunch period). If you are late, you will be marked tardy.  You will be assigned a detention.
Hall Passes:
No hall pass will be issued during the first 10 minutes of class or the last 10 minutes of class.    
End of Class:
•    The bell does not dismiss class; I do.
•    I do not dismiss until all students are seated and all materials are returned.
Grading:
100 - 93%   A,  Å®    92 - 90%  A-,  Å®    89 - 87%  B+, Å®  86 - 83%  B,  Å®     82 - 80%  B-,Å® 79 - 77%     C+,Å®    76 - 73%  C,    Å®    72 - 70%  C-,  Å®      69 - 67%  D+,Å®     66 - 63%  D,Å®62 - 60%      D-,Å®     59 - 0%    F.
The following are the categories in which you can earn points and their weights:
•    Coursework
•    Tests/quizzes
•    CCC lab
•    Participation
Absent/Missing/Late Work Policy:
If you are absent, you need to check the assignment binder for the work you miss.  The work will be due the next class period unless instructed differently. Other late work will be worth up to 50% if we are still working in the chapter from which it was assigned. Late work will have no value if it is turned in after we have left the chapter. If you have 3 or more missing assignments you will be issued homework detention on a scheduled day.
